“Yatho Hasta thatho Drishti, Yatho Drishti thatho Manah
Yatho Manah thatho Bhaava, Yatho Bhaava thatho Rasa”

Where the hands (hasta) are, go the eyes (drishti); where the eyes are, goes the mind (manah); where the mind goes, there is an expression of inner feeling (bhaava) and where there is feeling, mood or sentiment - experience (rasa) is evoked.

" I joined Natyaswara as Sangeetha aunty’s first dance student at the age of 7. Through her instruction, I have not only grown as a dancer but also as a person! Over the past 12 years, I have spent many hours in the studio practicing for my Bharatanatyam Arangetram (which I completed at the age of 16), instructed younger students, and made Natayaswara my second home.

It is without a doubt the best, most positive environment to flourish in as an ambitious, aspiring dancer. "

" I have been a student at Natyaswara for over 11 years. As a young 5 year old, the dance form Bharatanatyam was very new to me as I knew nothing about it. However, over the years, learning this art form and perfecting my postures and movements has truly developed who I am as an individual today as well as certain character attributes of myself. Sangeetha aunty has been an important person to my Bharatanatyam journey by being a passionate guru, a helpful friend my dance mates and I could lean on to talk about anything, and a constant source of support and encouragement as well. Without her countless amount of reassuring words, I never would have been able to complete my Bharatanatyam Arangetram at 14 years old (graduation solo performance) and succeeded.

Through learning Bharatanatyam, I have developed from a shy, closed-off young girl to a more confident, grounded, and intelligent individual and I can wholeheartedly say that I thank both Natyaswara and my Guru Sangeetha Balachandar for this."

" Sangeetha Balachandar (or Sangeetha Aunty as I like to call her) is very easily one of the best teacher I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. I was about 8 years old when I started dancing with aunty and throughout the years, I’ve not only learned how to dance and how to love the art of Bharatanatyam but also so many life lessons.

Sangeetha Aunty is a prime example of a teacher who is not only a teacher but also a friend. This quality of hers only makes her that much stronger of a teacher, because I truly believe that students excel the most when they feel comfortable to be themselves around their instructors. I would absolutely recommend Aunty to any young child who is interested in learning Bharatanatyam, you will not find a better teacher in the area than Sangeetha Aunty."

" Choosing Natyaswara school of dance has been one of the best decisions that I made for my daughter. Guru Smt.Sangeetha Balachander is the most talented and disciplined teacher. My daughter Advika started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of 8 from Sangeetha and over the years I saw my daughter’s personal growth and commitment to this classical form of art. That value has been instilled by Sangeetha.

As a guru, Sangeetha understands the strength of each student and she knows how to nurture that strength to bring the best out of students in the artform. I cannot thank her enough for the kind of support she gave during our daughter's arangetram. She stood as a pillar of strength for our family. We are blessed with an art experience of a lifetime because of Natyaswara. Thank you, Sangeetha. "

" I have so much to be thankful for to Sangeetha Aunty. Not only has she been my dance teacher since the age of 8, but my mentor in all other aspects of life. I have learned how to dance gracefully and with my full heart, and also learned about determination and perseverance through intensive dance classes.

During my arangetram, Sangeetha Aunty spent countless hours choreographing and creating music for a piece specific to Mahavir Swami, a God in the religion Jainism, so that me and my audience could connect with the dance. I have much respect and only kind words to say about Sangeetha Aunty. Today, I continue to dance in college and hope to do so for the rest of my life because of the invaluable guidance given to me by Sangeetha Aunty.  "

" I was with Natyaswara for a long while, and I really enjoyed every second of it! I started very as an unathletic kid who could not touch her toes, but with the guidance of Sangeetha Aunty, I was able to get stronger and more graceful through dance.

Natyaswara taught me to love dance and gave me the opportunity to find a form of exercise that I was truly passionate about. Completing my arangetram with the tutelage of Sangeetha Aunty and the support of Natyaswara was a dream come true as well, even while navigating through the challenges of the pandemic. Natyaswara is a wonderful place to learn the joy and discipline that comes with bharatanatyam. "

" Natyaswara has greatly helped me develop an appreciation for my culture while making the learning process so much fun. Learning here helps students gain confidence and support every student's individual journey with the classical arts.

Over the past eight years of me learning Bharatanatyam with Sangeetha Aunty, I have grown so much not just as a dancer but as a person as well, and I am truly grateful for my experiences at Natyaswara! "
